You know, I was watching a movie the other night about this guy who is on the verge of getting married to his girlfriend who is 3 months pregnant. He knows it’s wrong, but he contacts this girl and eventually, they end up kissing. He got caught by his girlfriend because unfortunately on the night that he is with the other girl, a friends father dies, and his girlfriend finds out that he is not with the friend that he said he was going to see.

So, when he gets home she confronts him and he admits that he kissed the girl – 7 times! Of course his girlfriend is po’d with him and she chases him out the house. And what does stupid to – he goes back to the other girl and sleeps with her. Now I ask you – WTF was he thinking? Well, to make a long story short, the girlfriend finds out that he had been sleeping with the other girl but after she made him suffer enough she gives him another chance. He got lucky.

OK, that does not mean that you will be able to get your girlfriend back, but nothing is impossible and there are a few things that you can do to get her back. You just have to realize that this is not going to be easy and that it is going to take while for her to forgive you – if she does.

First of all, if she does not want to talk to you, whatever you do, don’t stalk her. Don’t phone her crying. Don’t send her a kezillion text messages. Don’t go and drink and confront her when you are drunk. Doing any of these things will absolutely nullify your chances of getting her back.

You should give her the space that she needs – and believe me, at this stage she wants to be away from you. All you can do is give her the time she needs to work this out for herself. You can let her know that you are sorry, that you know that she needs time to sort this out and that you are prepared to give her that time. The ability to communicate is not the same as wanting to communicate with the other person and that is why most marriages fail, even if they do seek marriage counseling.

As bold as this may sound, fixing your marriage is actually a very simple process. Although each person’s situation and the depth of their problems can only be estimated, the root of all problems in marriage has to do with only two things. First, both parties are guilty of not listening to the other. Second, and outside sources necessary to ensure that a solution has any hope of being found. By following these two steps, with only the aforementioned variables, marriage success may be in your future if yours is in trouble now.

They should go their separate ways, or they should seek a third party counselor so that they may talk to this person and this person will act as a mediator between the two of them and perhaps come to an equitable solution.

The problem with a mediator is that usually he or she is used as a venting tool. People just want someone to talk to, to tell their side of the story, without any ambition to fix the problems that exist. However, if the mediator is lucky, they may come to an equitable solution by carefully listening to the two parties involved and potentially save the marriage from destruction.
